Happy Birthday!

 Hi Ellen

This is a special message to you to wish you a WONDERFUL birthday. Wish we were there with you. This is one birthday you won't ever forget and we're sure you'll make the most of it.

The latest blog entries on the high plains and salt lakes etc have been fascinating and the photos are great - we're eagerly awaiting LOTS more when you return. Say hello to Tess, Chris and Julie from us and we hope the remainder of the trip continues to be full of amazing experiences. It'll be hard coming back to 'real life' in Melbourne!

Looking forward to seeing you all on your return.

Happy New Year!

Hi Ramsays,

Have just returned from 10 days  r&r at Cowes and logged into your blog - sounds like a fabulous trip with so many highlights! Had to laugh at the Fawlty Towers hotel in Quito and definitely agree with your views on the Cusco Cathedral!

Love looking at your pics - Salt plains are amazing as are your birds and animals from Galapagos. Not so sure about your piranha fishing story (do you know how sharp their teeth are?!!

Think you'll be enjoying Buenos Aires now - how about their main boulevard?

love

Helen O

Great photos

Hi Julie, Chris,  Ellen and Tess,

Happy New Year to you all - what a way to spend it.

I am keeping up with your travels and enjoying your spectacular photos and diary entries. Such a different culture and landscape to what we have in our country. All interesting and informative.

At present my son is in Medellin, Colombia and tomorrow he heads to Peru and 4 days on the Inca Trail and a visit to Macchu Picchu. I have sent him your travel address.

Keep the entries coming and play safe. I watch with interest

Regards,

Robyn B  wink

Hi Julie and others of the Ramsay species!

Great postcards. Seems like you are having the time you wanted. Life in Oz continues unabated...thank heavens for the  school vacation though....swimming in the Ovens River...(recently declared the last undamaged river in Victoria , sob :( ,) was wonderful..no pirhanas. Time to recharge the batteries and catch up on the news and web. Hope you guys are in a good spot for the New Year and  can make the most of it. cheers and Happy New Year

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to all from the Ramsays ...

We are still in Cusco and it's still Christmas Eve here ... have just finished our Christmas Eve dinner at a tiny local cafe we passed in the street ... capacity all of 14 people ... and the kitchen is actually a part of the restaurant !!

Fairly basic, but good honest local food ... and cost us around A$30 for the four of us ...

Tomorrow we intend just to wander the streets around the main plaza and see what people get up to in Cusco on Christmas day.

More blogging soon ...

Small Technical Hitch Fixed

Hi all,

Just a quick note to say that the blog is now up to date again - had a small technical glitch this week in that I had posted some pics from our Amazon basin adventure and had written up all the blog text the other night when the machine I was on lost it´s Internet connection and I lost all the blog text - not happy Jan !

It was too late to write it all again as we had an early morning train to catch next day, so I have just rewritten the blog text and posted it again - so the blog and photo album are now back in sync up to our Amazon visit.

We are all sitting here in an Internet cafe in the town of Macchu Picchu as I write this message - I am doing the blog, Julie cannot keep off Edumail and the girls have rediscovered Runescape ... that for when it´s early morning in Melbourne and no friends are on MySpace or MSN ... sigh, seems even travel these days cannot be Internet free ...

Our visit to the Macchu Picchu ruins was yesterday - another absolute trip highlight ... I will post the blog entry and some pics when we get back to Cusco tonight.

Best wishes to all our blog readers and your families for Christmas ...

Ciao,
C,J,E,T.

Happy Christmas & New Year

 Hi Ramsays,

It looks like your adventures are getting better by the day. Photos are fantastic, not sure about the girls attempting the kiss of a piranha. Was in ABC shop doing some Christmas shopping and they have a g8 DVD of Galapogas, yours will be better!!! Weather has slightly improved here with a 35 degree day today. Christmas weather looks about 26. You are going to have a most interesting Christmas this year. Who needs electricity anyway? The Amazon looked amazing. News from home...lost 1st cricket test match to South Africa by 6 wickets, petrol prices gone down to $1...and maybe even lower by the New Year...can you believe it? Ben Cousins drafted by Richmond. Big Wheel opened at Docklands. US dollar at 68 today, GM and Chrysler saved, Bec & Lleyton had a baby boy Cruz as in Santa...ho ho ho, and thats about it. Have a great Christmas, catch you soon and keep blogging, Maureen

Christmas is now only a few days away. We hope its a very special time for you - it will certainly be different! We'll be thinking of you.

Two days of monsoonal rain, but lovely and cool. Blowing it down south. Brief visit to lake Bennett one hour from D. wish you could hear the frogs talking!

Galapogas

 Hi Ramsay family,

All the pictures look wonderful, but Galapogas Island looks surreal. What an abundance of beautiful big creatures.

Wishing all a wonderful Christmas and a great New Year!

Alo

Hi Julie, Chris, Ellen and Tessa,

Looks like you are having a great trip

Reading your blogs and viewing the photos has resulted in a number of new destinations being added to my travel wish list. The older I get the longer my list becomes. I think that I am going to have to have a win in tattslotto and live to a healthy 100 to visit everywhere.

It looks like you have covered a lot of territory and seen some amazing scenery and wildlife. The different culture and foods must make for interesting experiences.

I check your entries with interest and enjoy reading about your escapades.

Have a great time and play safe.

Regards,

Robyn

To all message posters

Hi all ... laugh out

Greetings from Quito, Ecaudor ...

Just thought we would post a quick note to all message posters to say we are diligently reading all the messages everyone is posting, so please keep it up.

Amazing to hear about two inches of rain in Melbourne over a couple of days, who would have thought - we are in a sub tropical zone and have only had a brief shower today for the first time since we arrived !

Thanks for the note Maureen - you can tell Luce that Tessa´s fitness regime for the next few weeks is basically tromping up and down mountains - altitude training will be a focus over the next week or ten days in Peru ! We´ll keep posting "Tessa pics" to the photo albums so the rest of the team can see what Tess is up to ... the sea lion pic from Galapogas looks particularly cute, don´t you think ...

Keep on posting ...

Adios from Ecaudor,
Chris, Julie, Ellen, Tessa
